UOM Variation Pricing

UOM Variation Pricing

Use this workflow when your product is priced by a measurement unit instead of by piece. Typical examples are carpets by square metre, fabric by metre, or products by weight.

How it works

  1. Create the master product using simplified single product, single product, or bulk product import.
  2. Set Unit of Measurement to a non-piece value such as SQM, SQF, MTR, KGS or GMS.
  3. Open the product update page and go to the UOM pricing tab.
  4. Enter the base rate per UOM and quantity slab rates.
  5. Add packaging assumptions such as package height, margin and weight per UOM.
  6. Add predefined size presets such as 2 x 3 m, 3 x 4 m, 120 x 180 cm or 60 x 90 cm.
  7. Create variations using the normal Variations tab.
  8. Return to UOM pricing, rebuild the preview, review calculated price, weight, package dimensions and CBM, then apply when correct.

Important rule

Commercial measurement and shipping packaging are separate. A carpet may be sold as 6 SQM, but shipped rolled or folded with different package dimensions.

Calculation

Measured quantity = length x width
Variation price = measured quantity x applicable rate per UOM
Package CBM = length x width x height / 1,000,000
